Friends

It’s good to have friends, y’know? Of course, there are different types of friends, which I shan’t go into today, but it’s good to have them none the less.

Today was the first day back at college after the past two Easter break weeks, and to be fair, I was looking forward to it when I got up. I wasn’t disappointed either. It was great to talk and just generally be there, which I know may sound odd, but I get myself, I think.

It may just be the people (who are all awesome, if any of you guys are reading this), but to be fair, I felt more ‘at home’ there than I have done in a while…

That’s all I have to say for now, so I’m afraid it’ll be rather short.

Here’s to friends!

Fish – Domesticated?

Now, I don’t hate fish, I really don’t. Well, most of the time I don’t, anyway. The only time I do get mildly annoyed by them is when they’re in a domestic environment. AKA, my house.

That’s when it’s safe to say they really tip me off. Especially when having to constantly check them, clean the tank, and other things that, if they were out in the wild, would take care of themselves.

You see, it all begins with my Mum wanting to get a pet. That’s when I knew things were going to go downhill. See, back at my old house, we had fish. Thing is, though they were classed as ‘Family Pets’, it was always me and Dad who ended up cleaning them out every few weeks.

Believe me, it was a less than pleasant task.

So, when Mum decides that fish are the best option, and that they would be (and I quote) “Less stress”, I immediately knew that I was in for the long haul, no matter how much I protested.

Seems like the protestants back in the day got lucky.

Protesting doesn’t work anymore.

Well, at least not around here, son.

I was surprised at the speed that Mum managed to get the tank and fish in the house, thinking I had more time for my pity-party.

Guess not.

Damn.

If life was Skyrim, I think it would be safe to say that the Gods must see me as one of their many amusements.

Anyway, I decided to try and bring up the positives. You know, lighten the mood, make my mind think that there was actually a purpose in my labour.

There weren’t many, I assure you.

My biggest con was that, in my mind, fish weren’t meant to be domesticated. It’s common fact, if you ask me. I mean, fish shouldn’t be born in a tank, or raised in one either. They were meant to be free in their own natural habitat, or at least in a nature reserve pond…or somewhere similar. See, in my mind, I’m pretty sure that natural instincts stay in an animal, no matter how long they’ve been in a domestic environment, and even if the thoughts been pushed ‘to the back of their minds’ so to speak. Same thing applies to environment, for me. In the back of a fish’s mind, surely there’s a small nagging, telling them that they’re not meant to be where they are. Maybe I’m being over-sympathetic with fish, due to my severe lack of social skills. Maybe I just want them out of my house so fast, I’ve begun to make up excuses for them to go.

I’m not entirely sure, but what I do know, is that they shouldn’t be in my house.

Photo Of The Day – Eternal Hope

Eternal Hope by memories of time
Eternal Hope a photo by memories of time on Flickr.

Morning guys! Yeah, so apparently today it’s back to the daily grind for me. I’m not sure wether to laugh or cry, to be honest. The positives are that I can get back into routine, and get up a lot earlier, and the negatives are a drastic cut back on laziness and gaming. Well, all good things must come to an end, as they say.

Today’s photo comes from another one of my Flickr contacts known as Kiyoshi Noguchi or, as many may know, Memories Of Time. The name that he gave to this fantastic photo perfectly fits it to a t. The warm sunrise look perfectly displays the message of ‘Eternal Hope’, and I hope that all our hopes can be eternal too.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Hey, can’t say I’ve exactly been away from my computer this time, and I can’t say I’ve been busy, either. Well, I have, but not in the way you’d expect. I mean this isn’t your usual ‘I have commissions and jobs to finish’ busy, no. This is your ‘I have Skyrim to play, Dragons to slay, and bounties to pay’ busy. What can I say though? It’s an epic game…even if no one I know apart from George will believe me :(

Anyway, enough of my hermit life in front of the very screen I am typing on, it’s time to update you on some things in my (very small, hermity, and boring) life. First things first! I’m redecorating! Lame, I know, but I honestly can’t remember what’s happened since holiday…it all seems to be filled in with playing Skyrim all day, every day…and maybe it has, I don’t know. Carrying on though, this redecoration really does suck. I mean, who knew wielding a paint pad could be so hard! I managed to paint one wall yesterday, ONE, and my arms were burning like fire. Turns out that these cursed things require a second coat though! I honestly believe that somewhere out there, someone has figured one coat paint…but I’ve just probably never seen it, or they’re just unwilling to share it with me. Either way, I still wish I had it right now, especially when I’m meant to be repainting the whole house, which is more than just a few walls, I assure you.

Secondly, ah, the memories are coming back now, I did get to meet up with Juj himself the other week (or was it month?) and finally got to see him other than through FaceTime, which made him look distorted to say the least. It was a good time, playing Skyrim, Minecraft, and other things pretty much the whole time, as you do. In fact, our motto for the day was ‘Skyrim ’till death!’ which we both seemed to whole heartedly believe at the time. But alas, the night proved too much for us to handle, and even two super-powered Dovahkiins have to sleep sometimes (gotta get that ‘Well Rested’ bonus). So, we slept for a few hours, and carried on. All in all, the trip was, undeniably, a huge success, barring the fact that I left my coat there, of course.

I’m pretty sure that was last month, but since then of course it’s just been me, Skyrim, and a whole load of biscuits. Fortunately I did remember that there was a real world out there, and so I’ve decided to come off for a while, seeing as amassing over 200 hours of gameplay in the first few weeks really isn’t good for my health. Then I remembered I had a blog! Yeah, I admit I did kinda forget, but hey, excessive gaming does that to you. However, I do have a boatload of pictures to share that I’ll be doing every day again, to keep me on my toes and help me to get up early. I would do a Newsspot so frequently too, but nothing on seems to grab me these days, but maybe that’ll change in the coming days.

Anyway, I’m done for now, so I’ll stop myself from rambling on and on…

Sunny Days & Birthdays!

Good morning readers!

Sorry for not updating you guys sooner as I promised, but this week’s a little hectic, with some projects I’m doing, along with a few jobs people have asked me to do. I am trying though… honest.

Anyway, if you’re in the UK, you’re bound to have noticed the sudden heat-wave we’ve had over the past few days. I, for one, am neutral on this. I love the sun and all, but the temperature change is making me sweat buckets, and it’s only 15 degrees! I guess I’ll get used to it if it stays like this for longer, though I’m not sure it will.

On the other hand, two birthdays were blessed with this good weather, which is a bonus! The first was my friend Zhane’s birthday on Saturday, in which she became a legal adult at age 18! The get together was great, I have to say. Food, cake, photos. It was all there… especially the cake.

The second birthday was my sister Rubie’s 7th birthday yesterday, in which I made myself quite scarce, since she had her little ‘cronies’ coming over most of the time. It was an enjoyable day for her, and for me too. I got free cake and food, and she got presents. It was a win-win situation. Standard.

If you’ve got me on Facebook, then you can take a look at some of the photos I took at Zhane’s birthday on there, or, seeing as I put a select few on Flickr, you can look there too.

Ciao!
