Overwhelmed – Living On The Edge

You know those photos where you think ‘I could’ve done better’ or ‘I don’t really like it, but I’ll share it anyway’? This was one of those photos.

Thing is, the response to this has literally blown be away. I’m used to seeing maybe 7 views on my photos and getting excited. This photo has topped 318 so far, and I keep getting more visitors. It may not seem like a lot to some, but to me this is spectacular!

A big thank you go to all who take the time to view it!

Photo of The Day – San Francisco Stay

Well, I finally found the willpower to do another one of these! I think I’ll go back to my standard Newsspot and photo scheme from today onward. I’ll have to go back and review how exactly I did it though…

Anyway, today’s photo comes from another one of my contacts (American, this time) called Thomas Hawk who’s real name is Andrew Peterson!

I’ve always loved photos like this one, with the ‘miniature’ effect due to the DOF and focal length (or simulated via application). The vivid colors on this photo make it stand out, too, with it’s contrasting whites, reds, and array of colors. Of course, the ‘stay’ sign sticks out the most, with it being the only noticeable words in the photo, and the item with the most color, and I like that. It gives a viewer some definite thing to focus on in a cityscape-like photo, which can be very rare these days.

Nice job Andrew!

Photo Of The Day – 藍色靈魂

All jokes aside, I really do love Sam’s photos. Honestly. Especially his night time shots, too. You see, where I live, we don’t usually see stars, and so it always amazes me to see how many there really are just hiding in plain sight. That, and sam captures the moments perfectly, every time. The angle, the exposure, everything.

Awesome work Sam!

Photo of The Day – Untitled

Morning guys! Again, sorry for being busy, but I’ve had some commissions and such, and am also trying to get the most out of the holidays which (in my mind) involves gaming and house calls. I’ve finished two posters and am finishing one off right now, so I’ll share those three with you later on today.

This photo comes from JD Huang’s Canon EOS 5D Mark II. An impressive shot I have to say. It just seems to breathe a certain eeriness which I can’t fully explain, even though the actual place is probably harmless. It’s almost like something that you’d see on the movies, you know? A corridor for like some secret agents or a top secret facility. Those sort of films. The photo doesn’t seem to have much if any editing at all either, so I think a round of applause to JD for taking such a great and gripping natural shot is in order!

Nice one!

Parks, Knights, and Slackers! Argh!

So yeah, it’s been a while. Not as long as my other breaks, but hey, it was a break nonetheless. And just when I’d promised to pick back up as well. Shameful. I guess it takes a lot of will and hard effort to keep these sort of things going, eh?

Anyway, today I thought I might as well update you guys on what’s been going on.

My head’s been a absolute trash can, it really has. My thoughts have been scattered all over the place, my concentration hasn’t lasted for one minute, and I have no idea why. It’s getting better now though, I’m happy to say, so maybe I’ll be back into my normal routine by tomorrow.

I can only hope.

This week however, has (event-wise) been very…well…uneventful. My trip to West Park, however, was the best part of the week. I donned my blue and white check shirt, blue jeans, black trainers, and managed to get up there in the scorching weather. Not my best plan, but once I start…I don’t want to look like a fool and turn back. Unless in private. So, I got down there and went snap happy! It was a refreshing experience, seeing as I hadn’t had the opportunity to do such a thing for quite a while, so I was happy. Eventually it got too much though. I mean, I’m used to 10 degrees or less…not 30 and rising. SO of course I bailed out and went home.

When I got there, I decided to finish off editing my friend Laura’s photos from her ‘Fruit Salad’ photoshoot which she did with Sadia promoting her fasion design. It was a challenge, going for the same overall look, but making sure the tone and white balance presented the greatest clarity, I’ll tell you that now. But, of course, I did it. I am Alex, the Lightroom veteran, after all.

And that brings me to today. This morning I trolled through Sadia’s photos from her trip to France and made my changes on Lightroom, before sending them back, and got on with the day. Skip ahead a few hours, and you’d find me upgrading from Lightroom 3 to…you guessed it! 4! Not only that, but I made the leap from Photoshop and Illustrator CS5.5 to…6! It was worth it, I’ll have you know, so all you graphic designers and photographers out there better scrape your pennies together! It was the most excited I’d felt all day.

Until George came online, that is. Of course, we played Spiral Knights. Of course, I died like 10 times. Of course, George rubbed my face in it. And of course, I had to leave early, by demand of my mother. It’s pretty much the routine we have, so I won’t go into much detail, suffice to say that George is was more powered up than me…which leads me to believe he’s been playing some extortionate hours…

Anyway, I’m off for now, seeing as it’s like 10:59pm here. I would upload some photos from West Park, too, but my internet has ben slow as of late (don’t worry, BT Infinity comes 12th June). To look at them, just look in the sidebar and check my Flickr!

Chao!
